Coach Ben Adams is in his second season as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at the University of Pikeville. Prior to moving back to Kentucky, he was a tennis professional at Kingsmill Resort, staff instructor at the Nike Tennis Camps at the College of William & Mary, volunteer assistant coach and recruiter for the men’s and women’s tennis teams at Randolph-Macon College, assistant athletic director at Saint Mary Star of the Sea School, and head girls’ varsity tennis coach at Menchville High School.
Coach Adams is a native of Kentucky and grew up learning the game from an endearing private coach and his older siblings. As a standout high school player and conference champion, he was recruited by multiple colleges but chose to forgo an opportunity to play collegiate tennis in favor of obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville. He earned a master’s degree in sport administration from Western Kentucky University and he is currently pursuing a doctorate in leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University.
Coach Adams is a Certified Tennis Teaching Professional with the Modern Tennis Methodology Coaches Association and he has also completed a USTA 10 and Under workshop. As an experienced tennis coach, Coach Adams has given lessons to youth players beginning to learn the sport, moderate players wanting to enhance their skills, and seasoned adults wishing to integrate fitness into their daily routines.
